Metal wire mesh
Stainless steel wire mesh
Stainless steel wire mesh is used in the paper industry, food industry, filtration industry, as well as in the chemical and petrochemical industry. It is also widely used for architectural applications. Stainless steel is used in different alloys and in a range of applications because it is resistant to corrosion. Low-alloy steel can resist corrosion at normal atmospheric conditions and high-alloy steels can resist severe conditions, such as high/low temperatures, high pressure, acids and alkaline solutions.

Phosphor bronze wire mesh
Phosphor bronze is an alloy of copper, tin and phosphor that is known for its toughness, strength and fine grain. More flexible than stainless steel wire, wire mesh with phosphor bronze is used in the production of security paper. It is used to imprint watermarks that characterise security paper used for passports, banknotes and seals, and imprints in other valuable documents.
Phosphor bronze wire mesh is also used in wind tunnel applications for testing air movement over solid objects, such as buildings. Drenth Holland supplies wire mesh for these applications, which needs to be strong and flexible to resist alternating forces.

Synthetic wire mesh
Polyester wire mesh
Monofilament polyester mesh consists of one type of fibre and is used in the food and other industries for a variety of purposes and applications. Drenth Holland produces standard monofilament polyester mesh for use in various industries as well as to customer specification.
Most synthetic materials are produced with polyester wire because of its strength and resistant to temperature and acids. The wire mesh has additional benefits, such as anti-static properties, when part of the polyester wires is replaced with anti-static wires.
Polyester wire mesh is used in the food industry, for instance, in the production of powdered coffee, milk, baby milk, cheese and tomato, and also animal feed powder. Polyester wire mesh is also used in the production of wood products, such as MDF and OSB.
The edge and side finishing of the polyester wire mesh is made to customer specification according to the application requirements. Stainless steel fasteners can be used, or the wire mesh can be supplied with a single loop seam, a double loop seam or an endless seam. The edges are protected from damage, mostly with high frequency edge finishing. Other types of edge finishing are also used, such as PVC or reinforced PVC edge finishing.

Polypropylene wire mesh
Polypropylene wire mesh is used in the cheese industry because it is resistant to caustic soda. This double-layer wire mesh and the belt are used to drain liquids from the cheese in the production of softer cheeses, such as mozzarella and cheddar.

Polyester spiral wire mesh
Unlike woven fabric, polyester spiral mesh comprises spiral twisted wires with pins holding the spirals together like a chain. Polyester spiral mesh is used in dewatering sludge in filter belt presses. This type of mesh is also used in the food industry in drying fatty milk and whey powders, and in separating food solids from liquids. Another application is in laundries where the spiral fabric is used to drain the water from the clothes. The polyester spiral mesh can be supplied with or without filling wires that adjust and customise air and liquid permeability.
